Say the exam is only good as a basic IT proficiency check. But does that sound like a good thing? While true A + certification won't earn you a senior position or a coveted technical position, it definitely has a place in your certification toolbox.
If you enter IT inexperienced, studying for exams will help you learn the basics. The A + exam may only have 90 questions, but you obviously don't know which questions. It's like the trick where the teacher or instructor allows a cheat sheet for an exam. By the time you've created your cheat sheet, you won't need it.
For retouch enthusiasts, the A + will be a bit easier and help validate your knowledge. If you've already been building PCs and installing operating systems, then you would easily pass the 700 series exams from years ago. But the latest A + exams released this month cover IT security, cloud concepts, and scripts a hobbyist might not have touched yet.
